A Chinese court sentenced members of the Ming mafia to death

A Chinese court ruled against members of the famous Ming mafia operating in Myanmar. According to the BBC, a total of 39 people were tried, 11 of whom were sentenced to death.

The remaining members of the mafia family also received severe punishments: 5 received deferred death sentences, 11 were sentenced to life imprisonment, and the rest received prison sentences ranging from 5 to 24 years.

The Ming family operated illegal casinos, drug trafficking, and fraud centers in Laukkai, Myanmar. Their leader took his own life two years ago after the rebels took control of the territory.

According to court materials, the family has been involved in various crimes since 2015 and has received billions of dollars in illegal income. Through the gambling houses they controlled, they had a negative impact on China and the countries of the region.
