There are still ten days left until the winner of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize is announced. However, US President Donald Trump once again drew public attention by openly stating that this prestigious award should be presented to him.
Trump's statement
Speaking at a meeting with high-ranking US military personnel at the Quantico military base in Virginia on Tuesday, September 30, the president said:
"This award should be given not for me personally, but for America. If I don't receive the Nobel Peace Prize, it will be an insult to the United States."
"I Ended Seven Wars"
In his speech, Trump listed his steps towards peace throughout his political career. He emphasized that since taking office in January, his personal initiatives have been decisive in resolving disputes in major regions such as India and Pakistan, Egypt and Ethiopia, Serbia and Kosovo. On this basis, he repeated several times that he "had finished seven wars."
Zelenskyy's statement
During the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York City, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also answered journalists' questions. He believes that if Trump succeeds in ending the war with Russia, he could be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
"Trump has the opportunity to stop this war. If he does this, the entire Ukrainian people will open their hands to it. Because ending the war is an incredible mission," Zelenskyy said.
