Footage showing the impact of a large asteroid colliding with the Moon by astronomers has spread widely on the internet. Since the incident occurred during the day, it was possible to film it using a telescope, the "Russian Newspaper" wrote.
As is known, there is no atmosphere on the Moon. Therefore, asteroids and other celestial bodies approaching it do not burn like on Earth, but deliver them directly to the surface in their entire volume. On the other hand, due to the absence of an atmosphere, it is very difficult to accurately observe them at night.
The impacted asteroid was very large, the size of a large city on Earth. As a result of its impact on the Moon, a large cloud of dust rose and a new crater formed. The craters covering the Moon's surface are the long-standing traces of such collisions.
