Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky did not get the expected result from his meeting with US President Donald Trump. Zelensky described the conversation as “tense.” The meeting took place at the White House and brought no significant decisions for Ukraine.
Before the trip, the Ukrainian side hoped to receive “Tomahawk” missiles from the United States. However, a phone call between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin changed these plans. Trump said that Putin “wants peace.”
Zelensky expressed gratitude to Trump but noted that Putin is not ready for negotiations. The meeting ended with no new aid promised by the United States.
Trump suggested freezing the war “along existing lines.” Ukraine, however, sees this war as an act of aggression. Zelensky returned home with no results.
