The Rafah border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt will reopen on Monday, the Palestinian embassy in Egypt announced. The crossing has been closed since May 2024. Now Palestinians living in Egypt will be able to return to Gaza.
According to the UN, an average of 560 tons of food has entered Gaza daily in recent weeks, but this does not meet the full need. Due to war and blockade, shortages of food and medicine continue in Gaza.
The Rafah crossing was closed after Israeli forces took control of the Gaza side. Now Palestinians living in Egypt will be able to return to Gaza.
According to UN data, more than 400 people have died of hunger. Israel denies these figures, but restrictions on aid deliveries remain in place.
