The Russian court imposed the first fine for advertising on Instagram (recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation). Krasnodar lawyer and blogger Yevgeny Tutushkin was fined 30,000 rubles for advertising the hotel.
According to the lawyer, the post that the court focused on is not an advertisement. Tutushkina noted that she told her subscribers about the hotel where she lived. The woman liked this place, so she decided to advise her subscribers and shared a booking link.
Tutushkina noted that the post was posted before the law, which prohibits the placement of advertising on unacceptable social networks, came into force.
A law banning advertising deemed inappropriate on websites of foreign or international organizations came into force on September 1st.
