You need a diploma to become a blogger: China has established strict rules

New rules have come into force for social media bloggers in China.

According to the new regulations, bloggers or influencers who want to post content in areas such as medicine, law, education, and finance must first confirm that they have special qualifications and permission.

This law was implemented by the China Cyber Security Administration (CAC) as part of the fight against false and misleading information on the internet. The goal is "to ensure reliable information circulation in areas with high social impact."

According to the new rules:

Major platforms such as Douyin, Bilibili, and Weibo will now be responsible for verifying bloggers' information, citing sources, and providing correct quotes;

creators must clearly indicate whether the information in the content is based on research or created using artificial intelligence;

clandestine advertising of food products, medical supplements, and services is strictly prohibited.

The platforms will also strengthen oversight to prevent the dissemination of false information that affects health and financial security. Bloggers and companies that violate the rules can be fined.
