The UNESCO Forum in Samarkand acquired historical significance
The President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov, congratulated the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the entire Uzbek people on the opening of the 43rd session of UNESCO in the city of Samarkand. This event, being held outside the organization's headquarters in Paris for the first time in over four decades, is seen as an important sign of Uzbekistan's growing prestige on the international stage.

In his congratulatory message, Japarov noted that organizing such a large-scale event in Central Asia is a historic event. In his opinion, this not only demonstrates Uzbekistan's high status on the world stage, but also clearly proves that the entire Central Asian region is recognized as a major hub for cultural, spiritual, and humanitarian dialogue.

The city of Samarkand, with its rich scientific and spiritual heritage, gives the conference a special symbolic meaning. “Holding such a prestigious forum in the ancient Samarkand, the cradle of science, enlightenment, and spirituality, bestows a special symbolic significance on the conference,” the message reads.

According to the Kyrgyz leader, this event presents Uzbekistan as a bridge of civilization that spreads the ideas of peace and creativity. The President of Kyrgyzstan expressed confidence that the discussions and decisions during the two-week session will open new prospects for cooperation in the fields of education, science, and culture.

He also emphasized his hope that the results of the forum will help strengthen friendship among peoples and contribute to the further development of the region. The 43rd session of UNESCO in Samarkand has brought together over five thousand participants from 193 countries, including heads of state, ministers, scientists, and cultural figures.

The event is being held at Samarkand's Silk Road Congress Center and will continue until November 13. The forum's agenda includes pressing issues such as the digitization of education, protection of cultural heritage, and the role of artificial intelligence.

The decision to hold the session in Samarkand was unanimously taken at the 42nd session held in Paris, and is recognized as a result of Uzbekistan's long-term cooperation with UNESCO. Until now, 16 elements of Uzbekistan's intangible heritage have been included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
