The dangerous Marburg virus is spreading in Ethiopia. Nine people, including medical workers, have been infected in the area bordering South Sudan, and sanitary measures have been drastically strengthened, according to international sources.
According to official data, the first confirmed case of the Marburg virus has occurred, and this infectious disease has been recorded in the region. After the identification of nine patients, local services switched to emergency mode.
The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that it has sent $300,000 in aid and necessary medical equipment to Ethiopia. The organization notes that the virus is similar to previous East African epidemics.
Quarantine and sanitary checks at the borders have been increased. A special test system was launched to determine the marburg. At the same time, work continues on the creation of a vaccine against the virus.
Specialists urge the population to strengthen precautionary measures and immediately consult a doctor if suspicious symptoms are observed.
