How many people on Earth have access to the Internet?

According to a report by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), over the past year, another 240 million people have connected to the internet. Now about 6 billion people on Earth, that is, three-quarters of the population, are online.

At the same time, 2.2 billion people still cannot access the internet. This figure indicates that the numerical inequality is still serious.

Reportedly:

- in high-income countries, 94% of the population is online,

- for low-income people - only 23%.

Urban residents (85%) are more active than rural residents (58%). Men are 77%, and women are 71% online.

There is also a big difference in 5G networks: coverage in high-income countries is 84%, while in poor countries it is only 4%.

Recall that in January-August 2025, the share of internet users in Uzbekistan was 94.2%.
