Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed to consider a new diplomatic mechanism proposed by the United States, aimed at the immediate cessation of hostilities with Russia. This was reported from the head of state's office on the evening of November 20. According to Zelenskyy, the proposed roadmap is based on a number of principles important to Kyiv, and work on these principles has been agreed upon with the US.
The statement released by the presidential administration states: "The Ukrainian leader outlined the main directions, taking into account the interests of the people, and at the end of today's meeting, an agreement was reached to work on points that will contribute to a worthy end to the war." Zelenskyy hopes to meet with US President Donald Trump in the coming days to discuss the existing diplomatic opportunities and the conditions necessary for achieving peace.
As reported by RBK-Ukraine, on November 20, the President of Ukraine received a delegation of high-ranking generals of the US Armed Forces in Kyiv. The delegation was headed by US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll. The press previously reported that the American military could exert pressure on Zelenskyy to agree to the peace formula developed by Washington.
The American peace project has not yet been officially announced, but its general outlines have been revealed through the media. According to Reuters and a number of Western publications, Washington is demanding that Kyiv temporarily relinquish certain territories in the eastern part of the country, reduce the number of armed forces, and abandon a number of types of military systems. The Telegraph has made another claim: Russia may have to pay a certain "rent" to Ukraine in exchange for effectively controlling Donbas.
Reuters sources reported that the US president's team presented Zelenskyy with a new 28-point scheme. This document outlines four main directions: achieving peace in Ukraine, strengthening security guarantees, ensuring stability in the European region, and reforming Washington's future diplomatic relations with Moscow and Kyiv.
At the same time, US media sources are reporting possible secret talks between Moscow and Washington regarding the peace plan for Ukraine. It was noted that Ukraine and EU countries did not participate in these negotiations. Berlin and Brussels emphasize the need to involve Kyiv and the EU in such initiatives.
In short, this process taking place in Kyiv could become a decisive stage in the security architecture not only of Ukraine, but of all of Europe. President Zelenskyy emphasizes that every decision should serve the interests of the people.
