US President Donald Trump stated that Kyiv must respond to the proposed "peace plan" by November 27 to stop the Russia-Ukraine conflict. He said this in an interview with Fox News, noting that a clear position is expected until Thanksgiving. Trump believes that this is the most opportune time to turn negotiations into a real deal.
He also emphasized the difficulty of the existing choice for Ukraine: the risk of losing territories, the likelihood of remaining without the support of an international partner, and the increasingly turbulent winter. According to information circulating in the US press, if Kyiv refuses to accept the plan, Washington has also made a clear indication of the possibility of limiting or reducing military aid.
Zelenskyy addressed the country on this matter, emphasizing that Ukraine is currently on the verge of a very complex stage. According to the president, Kyiv will discuss all options for achieving peace without losing honor and sovereignty. He stated that an exchange of proposals for a 28-point plan with allies in the US and Europe is ongoing.
The Ukrainian leader noted that on the same day, he held a nearly one-hour conversation with US Vice President Jay DiVence and Pentagon representatives, where they exchanged views on several key points of the plan. He emphasized that Kyiv is firmly and clearly defining its position to ensure the effectiveness of the peace path.
Moscow confirmed that it accepted the text of the White House plan, but stated that the clauses cited therein were not discussed substantively with Russia. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that they have not yet been officially presented with documents.
According to pieces of the plan circulated in the media, the US is demanding certain territorial concessions from Ukraine, a reduction in the size of the army, and guarantees of non-membership in NATO. Leading EU countries have reacted cautiously to this proposal, emphasizing that Ukraine's sovereignty and defense capabilities must not be limited.
Kyiv, however, has stated one thing clearly: territorial integrity is not for sale. They are ready to talk about peace, but maintain a sharp stance on issues such as the country's borders, paper restrictions, and the reduction of the army's potential.
Obviously, the coming days will be very important for the region. As US pressure increases and active dialogue continues between Russia and Europe, the choice facing Ukraine is becoming one of the most difficult trials, both socially and geopolitically.
