On the coast of Kaylis Beach in New South Wales, Australia, a shark suddenly attacked a woman and a young man next to her. According to the BBC, the 20-year-old woman died at the scene, and the 20-year-old man was taken to the hospital in serious condition by helicopter. It is said that one of the witnesses helped save his life by applying a tourniquet to his leg.
Experts believe the attack was carried out by the "big bull shark" - one of the most dangerous sharks for humans in the world. After the tragedy, the beach was closed, and special "smart" hooks were installed for safety.
The head of Surf Life Saving NSW, Steve Pierce, expressed deep regret for the incident and asked residents not to swim near nearby villages. This is the fifth shark attack recorded in Australia in 2025, with a similar incident last occurring in Sydney three months ago.
