
Floods and landslides caused by heavy rains on the Indonesian island of Sumatra have led to tragic consequences. According to Reuters, the natural disaster claimed the lives of 174 people.
According to the Indonesian Disaster Management Agency, hundreds of citizens have gone missing. The Jakarta Post reported that about 100 people have not yet been found.
As a result of the natural disaster, electricity and communication equipment were damaged in some areas.
In recent days, rainy weather has affected not only Indonesia but all of Southeast Asia. According to Tribun News:
145 people died in Thailand, with the highest number of casualties recorded in Sonkxhlar province.
In Sri Lanka, 56 people died, and 21 are missing.
In Malaysia, the water level rose to 60-100 cm, and more than 21 thousand people were evacuated.
Local governments and international aid organizations continue to provide assistance to the disaster-affected population and search for the missing.
