The Oxford Dictionary found the word "ragebait" - rage ("anger") and bait ("bait") to be its best word. It describes content that intentionally triggers negative reactions in its audience.
"The existence and very widespread use of the word Ragebait means that we are becoming increasingly aware of how manipulations can be involved on the Internet," said Kasper Gratvol, President of the Oxford Language Faculty.
The word of the year was determined by a vote involving more than 30,000 people. This term, derived from the English words "rage" and "bait," has tripled over the past year. By the way, this creative method of attracting an audience is in demand not only by bloggers and users, but also by large media outlets.
