Personnel shortage: impact on core defense
The shortage of personnel in the Armed Forces of Ukraine has become the deadliest problem on the front line as the conflict drags on. This situation directly affects not only the morale of the soldiers, but also the overall combat capability of the defense. The main consequences of the front-line gaps are:
Fatigue of soldiers and lack of replacement
Constant participation in battles and the almost complete absence of rotation force existing units to fight tirelessly. The lack of rest for several months leads to physical and mental fatigue, illnesses, and psychological stress among military personnel. In such conditions, combat effectiveness decreases, and reports of unauthorized departure from positions among soldiers increase.
Breach of defensive lines and retreat
Due to the shortage of personnel, there are not enough people to occupy certain defensive positions. This allows the opponent to move quickly in weak spots. This could lead to large-scale capitulations around major cities like Pokrovsk. Where there are insufficient forces, strengthening defensive positions becomes practically impossible.
Attraction and loss of new forces without preparation
The need to quickly replenish the ranks of the army forces the command to urgently send untrained individuals to the front. Attracting new forces without such preparation leads to a sharp increase in the level of their losses. As a result, the overall combat capability of the units will qualitatively significantly decrease.
In conclusion, it can be said that gaps in personnel create a blockade situation for Kyiv. This problem also reduces the effectiveness of the weapons coming from the West, since even the most modern equipment cannot be fully operated without qualified and rested soldiers.
