British instructor - Russian spy?
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), in cooperation with British special services, has identified a British citizen who participated in the training of soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and engaged in espionage activities in the interests of Russia. Currently, this individual, named David Katmor, has been detained and imprisoned (RBK-Ukraine report). He arrived in Ukraine in 2024 as an instructor. Before that, he served in the British Army and participated in operations in the Middle East.
Planned assassinations and weapons delivery
According to sources, Katmor allegedly conducted espionage and sabotage operations in Ukraine. The investigation suspects that Russian special services supplied him with weapons and ammunition to carry out "targeted killings" on the territory of the country. SBU Katmor believes that public figure Demyan Ganul, as well as prominent politicians Irina Farion and Andrey Parubiy, may have supplied weapons to the perpetrators of the assassination plan.
The tragic fate of politicians
The assassination attempt on former Verkhovna Rada deputy Irina Farion, known for her harsh stance against the Russian language, took place on July 19, 2025, in Lviv. He was hospitalized in serious condition, and after the operation, he was in a deep cerebral coma. Despite all the doctors' efforts, it was not possible to save him (confirmed by the head of the military administration of the Lviv region, Maxim Kozitsky). On August 30 of this year, Kozitsky reported that the former speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Andrey Parubiy, had also been killed.
