Intense clashes have erupted again in the Spin Boldak border area between Pakistan and Afghanistan’s Taliban forces. Both sides accuse each other of violating the ceasefire. Due to the overnight fighting, many residents living near the border were forced to leave their homes for safety.
According to initial reports from Kandahar province, four Afghan civilians were killed. Pakistan reported that three people were injured. Although the shooting has temporarily stopped, the situation in the area has not stabilized — residents fear that the fighting may resume.
The Pakistani government accused the Taliban of opening fire and stated that an appropriate response was given. The Taliban claims it took necessary measures to protect its territory. Videos circulating on social media show people hastily leaving the area on foot or by car.
These clashes indicate rising tension following the ceasefire reached two months ago through Qatari and Turkish mediation. At that time, both sides agreed to maintain the ceasefire during negotiations, but full peace was not achieved. The latest events once again show that the situation in the border region remains highly unstable.
