
It was established that a citizen of Uzbekistan in Pakistan has been detained and is currently being held in custody while claiming innocence. Employees of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan, working closely with the local authorities of the Mirzo-Ulugbek district of Tashkent, are taking measures to assess the situation.
A citizen of Uzbekistan arrived in Pakistan in December 2024 with her husband to conduct business activities. However, in January 2024, she and her husband were arrested on suspicion of belonging to a drug trafficking group. As a result, the woman was placed in the Central Women's Prison in Karachi, India.
The Uzbek woman said that she was given a false promise to come to Pakistan with her husband and end up in this situation. This situation, as he noted, is completely innocent. The woman who asked for help in the investigation managed to receive diplomatic and legal assistance.
In a short period of time, the embassy decided to hire a new lawyer to protect his rights and continue specific work on further cases. According to her husband, she also considers herself innocent and is ready to provide the necessary moral support to protect the woman's rights.
Also, specific conversations were held with the Pakistani government regarding the conditions of compliance, as a result of which the woman's condition, medical care, and opportunities to communicate with a lawyer improved. The heads of the institution also gave conclusions about his correct and fair attitude.
