Powerful storm paralyzes Northern Europe

A strong winter storm has been observed in Northern European countries. In Sweden, two people were killed as a result of the storm. The storm, named “Johannes,” brought strong winds, snowfall and cold, seriously affecting daily life.

According to Swedish authorities, one person died after being hit by a falling tree. Another person died due to an accident while on duty. Warnings were issued in northern parts of the country because of strong winds.

Due to the storm, tens of thousands of homes in Sweden, Norway and Finland were left without electricity. Many train, flight and ferry services were cancelled. Road travel became difficult, and emergency services operated in an enhanced mode.

In Finland, strong winds caused aircraft to slide off the runway at an airport, but no injuries were reported. Authorities advised people to take precautions and avoid long trips until weather conditions improve. Efforts to deal with the storm’s consequences are ongoing.
