Pope sends 100,000 servings of soup to Ukraine’s frontline

Pope Leo XIV has sent a large-scale humanitarian aid to the war-torn Ukrainian population on Christmas Day. Three trucks delivered 100,000 servings of ready-made beef and vegetable soup to the country.

The food aid will be distributed to the most vulnerable people living in areas close to the frontline, the Vatican said, citing a statement by Polish cardinal and prefect for charitable services Konrad Krajewski.

The cardinal said that through this initiative, the Pope wants to show his spiritual solidarity with the suffering people. The food items were delivered to areas where there are frequent interruptions in electricity, drinking water and heating systems, and where there is frequent shelling.
