On the night and early morning of December 31st, the Russian military carried out another drone attack on Odessa. Local authorities and rescue services reported that the main strikes were directed at energy infrastructure facilities. At the same time, one of the drones crashed into a nine-story residential building. As a result, six citizens, including three children, were injured to varying degrees.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine confirmed that a strong fire broke out in apartments from the 2nd to the 6th floors as a result of a drone hitting a residential building at night. Although rescuers took prompt measures, the fire caused serious damage to the building.
During the attack, the facades and windows of several more apartment buildings were damaged, and several cars parked nearby were completely burned. The head of the Odessa regional administration, Sergey Lisak, reported that a seven-month-old baby, as well as eight and fourteen-year-old children, were among the injured at midnight.

At dawn, doctors and rescuers clarified that all members of one family - a father, mother, and two children - were injured during the attack. According to local Telegram channels, the 42-year-old father was admitted to intensive care with severe burns. The 38-year-old mother also had burn marks, closed head injuries, and fractures. A 14-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl remain in the hospital in moderately serious condition.
Around nine o'clock in the morning, Sergey Lisak reported that power was cut off again in some parts of Odessa as a result of the attack. According to him, restoration work is ongoing at critical infrastructure facilities, which is why some of the population is temporarily without water and heat.
That morning, Nova Post reported that fragments of a drone landed in the courtyard of a sorting terminal in Odessa. There were no casualties, but a truck loaded with shipments worth approximately 2.3 million hryvnias ($60,000) caught fire.
Monitoring Telegram channels reported the arrival of new drones from the sea into the Odessa region. The air raid alert was lifted only at nine o'clock local time, but at half past eleven it was announced again - another drone was detected over the sea.
It turned out that Russian drones attacked not only Odessa that night, but also other regions of Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, a total of 127 strike drones were launched by Russia in the evening, night, and morning from the southern and northern directions. 101 of them were shot down in the air.
The Air Force press service added that 20 strike drones landed in 11 areas. The attacks became another difficult night for Ukrainian cities, while civilians welcomed the next New Year in an atmosphere of danger and instability.
