Passengers sleep in airport due to snow, Parisians enjoy skiing

Snow and ice disrupted transport in northwestern Europe. About a thousand passengers at Amsterdam airport were forced to spend the night in the airport building, as hundreds of flights were canceled. At the same time, Paris residents and tourists enjoyed the snow in the city, skiing and sledding.
Airport officials said passengers were provided with beds, pillows, blankets, food, and drinks. They noted that transport disruptions could continue in the coming days.
Airlines received the necessary de-icing fluid for planes. Flights at Paris airports were canceled, and delays occurred at Brussels airport as well.
Snow and ice caused schools to close and road restrictions. Meanwhile, Paris shops prepared for New Year sales, and people showed interest in buying winter equipment. In the Western Balkans, snow also affected transport and electricity.
