Drone attack in the Pskov region: a large fire broke out at the oil depot

Drones have reportedly attacked civilian infrastructure facilities in the Pskov region and the city of Velikiye Luki, Russia. According to the governor of the region, Mikhail Vedernikov, the attack, which occurred on the night of Thursday, February 19, caused a fire in one of the tanks storing oil products at the Velikiye Luki oil depot.

According to the governor, emergency services are working at the scene and the situation is under control. At the same time, local residents were asked to stay away from windows as a precaution and, if they were on the street at the time of the attack, to seek shelter in nearby buildings.

According to the ASTRA channel on Telegram, employees of some enterprises near the fire site were evacuated for safety reasons. The channel writes that a protective net was installed over the tanks at the oil depot, but based on eyewitness accounts, a large fire broke out after several drones “pierced” the net.

According to ASTRA, the depot also stored oil products — diesel fuel, gasoline and other types of raw materials — intended for later distribution to the Russian oil and gas industry, enterprises and transport companies.

Meanwhile, a representative of Rosaviatsia reported that Pskov airport has not received or sent any aircraft for a certain period of time. The details of the incident are expected to be clarified based on official sources and local reports.
