Pope Leo XIV said not to give a sermon to artificial intelligence

Pope Leo XIV opposed the idea that priests should entrust the preparation of sermons to artificial intelligence. The Vatican leader prioritizes "consequences" over "favor": he sees a potential threat to humanity in artificial intelligence.

According to the Italian press, during a meeting with several hundred priests in his diocese, Leo XIV emphasized an important point: artificial intelligence cannot convey faith to the heart. According to him, the main task of the sermon is precisely this - to influence the inner world of a person, to awaken spiritual feelings, to revive spiritual feelings.

To make his point more understandable, the Pope quoted a very simple but touching analogy from sports. He expressed the following opinion: if a person stops using muscles, over time they weaken. The brain is the same - if a person continues to entrust thinking, reasoning, and creativity to technology, it stops "watering" their intellect and mental activity may decrease. That is, it's not just about the sermon - it's about the person themselves.

Interestingly, the question has also been raised about how "artificial intelligence itself" will react to this news. The answer is brief: artificial intelligence is an algorithm and a collection of data that has no emotions, personal experience, or emotional experience. Religious sermons are often directed at the human heart, inner pain, hope, and fear. AI can create beautiful, logical text, but it doesn't have a "soul."

Artificial intelligence also considers the Pope's idea of "using the brain" justified: if a person keeps placing everything on technology, it's likely that the ability to think and create will indeed weaken over time.

The conclusion is simple: technology can be helpful, but putting everything in its hands - especially in matters that touch the soul - is dangerous. And the preaching is not "text," but "influence," that's the essence of what Leo XIV wanted to say.
