Gold worth 1700 dollars came out of a duck slaughtered for dinner

An unexpected incident in China surprised many people. A man known by the surname Liu, who lives in Hunan province, slaughtered a duck he had raised for dinner and, while cleaning it, noticed shiny particles inside its stomach.
Later it turned out that these were not ordinary objects but possibly gold particles worth about 12 thousand yuan, or approximately 1,740 dollars.
At first, Liu thought they were small stones or pieces of metal. However, their unusual shine made him suspicious.
According to local reports, the total weight of the discovered particles was about 10 grams. To check their authenticity, the man used one of the simplest methods — he heated them in fire. After the particles did not change color, he concluded that they might indeed be gold.
However, this discovery has not yet been officially confirmed. The Natural Resources Office of Lunhui stated that specialists need to conduct additional examinations. In other words, although the incident appears very interesting, further investigation is required to reach an official conclusion.
In short, for now the story that “gold came out of a duck” remains at the level of a sensation, but bureaucracy is also playing its role.
Experts do not consider this case completely unusual. Hunan province is known as one of the regions rich in mineral resources. It is said that natural gold particles can be found in nearby river sediments.
Moreover, in 2024 reports spread that more than 300 tons of gold reserves were discovered around the Wangu mine in Pingjiang district of Hunan, and deeper layers may contain more than 1,000 tons.
It is possible that while searching for food along riverbanks and muddy areas, the duck swallowed sand, small stones, and various particles together with pieces of gold. Over time, they may have accumulated in the bird’s stomach.
