On March 13, the deputy head of the judicial enforcement service under the General Prosecutor’s Office of Kyrgyzstan, Kubanychbek Kapalov, died by shooting himself. This was reported by the 24.kg news portal.
The main department of internal affairs in Bishkek received a report about a body found with a gunshot wound in the interior of a vehicle on Kojomberdiev Street in the village of Chon‑Aryk. A rapid investigative team from the Lenin district police unit promptly arrived at the scene.
During the investigation, the body of a man born in 1981 with a gunshot wound was found inside a GAC car. It was later confirmed that the deceased was Kubanychbek Kapalov, who served as the deputy head of the judicial enforcement service under the General Prosecutor’s Office.
From the scene, a 12‑gauge smooth‑bore shotgun “IJ‑18,” 13 cartridges, a shell casing, two mobile phones, a farewell letter, and other material evidence were seized.
According to preliminary information from the forensic examination, the deceased had a gunshot wound to the chest. A forensic medical examination has been appointed to determine the exact nature and degree of the injuries.
Preliminary data suggest that the man may have taken his own life due to debt obligations.
A criminal case has been opened under Part 1 of Article 128 of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan (threat of violence, cruel treatment or insult to a person that resulted in the victim’s suicide attempt or act). Investigative actions are ongoing, and law enforcement agencies are working to clarify all the details of the incident.
