Turkey launches efforts to resume talks between Russia and Ukraine

Turkey is once again returning to the center of world politics. Official Ankara has launched a diplomatic 'offensive' to revive the stalled peace process and put an end to bloody conflicts. Zamin.uz Presents the details of Erdogan's new plan and the anticipated historic meeting.
Erdogan's diplomatic marathon
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held important talks with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Ankara on April 22. The Turkish leader emphasized that it is time to resume dialogue between Russia and Ukraine, which has been stalled since February 28 due to conflicts in the Middle East (US and Israel's war against Iran).
Erdogan also held a phone conversation with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, noting that the instability around Iran is negatively affecting not only the region but also European security.
Four-way meeting: Trump and Erdogan at the same table?
The Ukrainian side also places great hope on Ankara's role in seeking a path to peace. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiha recently put forward an important proposal from Kyiv at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum. According to this proposal, a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian leader Vladimir Putin could be organized in Turkey.
The most interesting aspect is that not only Recep Tayyip Erdogan but also US President Donald Trump is expected to participate as a mediator in this historic dialogue. 'We want to put an end to this war. We have practical solutions, and Turkey is the main force that can accelerate this process,' Sibiha said.
Kremlin's position: When are negotiations possible?
The Russian side does not deny the possibility of a presidential meeting but sets clear conditions for it. According to Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov, a direct dialogue between Putin and Zelenskyy can only take place at the stage of finalizing the agreements reached as a result of negotiations, i.e., signing the documents.
We remind you that the Russian leadership had previously made similar statements in May and July 2025.
Dear politics enthusiasts, in your opinion, can the joint efforts of Erdogan and Trump bring Putin and Zelenskyy to the same table? Can Turkey once again bring peace to the world?
