Another restless night was observed in the Ukrainian sky. On the night of May 14, the Russian armed forces launched a large-scale air attack on the country's capital, Kyiv, and several other regions. These attacks, carried out using missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), resulted in powerful explosions and destruction in various parts of the city.
Situation in Kyiv: Residential areas and infrastructure damaged
Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration Timur Tkachenko stated that one of the heaviest strikes occurred in the southeastern part of the city, Darnytskyi district. Part of a multi-story building was destroyed here, and people were trapped under the rubble due to the collapse of structures. Rescuers are currently busy searching for victims.
Mayor of the capital Vitali Klitschko confirmed that there is serious damage in other areas of the city as well:
Dnipro district: Drone debris fell on the roof of a five-story building, causing a fire. One private residence was also hit.
Northern districts: A fire broke out after drone debris fell into an apartment on the 12th floor.
Shevchenkivskyi, Solomianskyi, and Obolonskyi districts: Non-residential buildings and facilities were damaged. In Solomianskyi, cars near a business center caught fire.
Holosiivskyi and Darnytskyi: Damage was recorded at a business center, roads, and gas stations.
According to the latest information, at least 9 people have been hospitalized in serious condition. Rescue operations are still ongoing.
Geography of the attack and air defense
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that the Russian army targeted not only the capital but also Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Donetsk, Odesa, and many other regions. Guided aerial bombs were used alongside missiles.
It is worth noting that for the first time since the start of the war, one of the country's westernmost points — Uzhhorod city was also attacked. Sounds of explosions were heard in the center of the Zakarpattia region.
According to the Ukrainian side's report, over the past 24 hours, a total of 892 drones were launched, of which 710 were destroyed or neutralized by air defense systems. The situation remains tense.
