Geely Galaxy Star 8 Voyager debuts

Geely has revealed technical details and official images of the new Galaxy Star 8 Voyager, a more advanced version of its flagship sedan. The model is expected to cost between 160,000 and 180,000 yuan, placing it above the standard Galaxy Star 8 but still below the price of a Toyota Camry in China. Reports Ixbt.com.

The biggest upgrade is Geely’s new-generation Shield Gold Brick battery. It raises the car’s pure electric driving range to as much as 225 kilometers, while the total claimed range reaches 1,725 kilometers. Even the base version will include a tire puncture stability system designed to help keep the car under control at speeds of up to 160 km/h.

The Galaxy Star 8 Voyager will also feature the Qianli Haohan H5 assisted driving system with support for urban autopilot functions. The package uses 27 sensors, including one lidar unit, three millimeter-wave radars, 11 high-resolution cameras and 12 ultrasonic sensors. Geely also mentioned a “small blue light,” which is expected to show when the driving system is active.

Inside, the sedan will offer a 23-speaker Flyme Sound audio system with output of up to 2,000 watts. Buyers will also get VIP-style power seats with an extended cushion and a wide adjustment range, along with heating, ventilation and massage functions. Geely is also preparing updated cabin trim and new exterior colors for the Voyager.
