California authorizes fining autonomous vehicles

California has officially authorized the issuance of fines for driverless vehicles. The local Department of Motor Vehicles has amended regulations concerning autonomous vehicles operating on public roads. This was reported by Ixbt.com xabar.
Under the new rules, companies responsible for deploying driverless vehicles must respond to emergency service calls within 30 seconds. Furthermore, police officers have been granted the authority to issue fines directly to the operator companies for vehicles that commit traffic violations.
Previous legislation did not allow for the fining of driverless vehicles. Additionally, requirements for employees of operator companies have been tightened.
They are now required to obtain special licenses and permits before operating an autonomous vehicle.
