Mercedes-Benz switches to Bosch motors: Efficiency up to 98 percent

Bosch has signed a multi-year contract with Mercedes-Benz to supply electric motors for new electric vehicles. The agreement runs until at least the 2030s and covers a wide range of vehicles, from mass-market models to premium EVs. For Bosch, this deal is a crucial strategic step amid declining profits and planned staff cuts. This is reported by Ixbt.com .
The main advantage of the new electric motors is their high efficiency, reaching 98 percent. This was achieved through an updated winding design and an oil-cooled rotor system. The oil helps dissipate heat more effectively, allowing the motor to be more compact, increase power, and reduce energy losses.
Another important aspect is the modular architecture. Bosch has developed a universal platform that can be adapted to various vehicle types, transmissions, and axle configurations. For automakers, this simplifies the integration process and significantly reduces development costs for new models.
Currently, Bosch produces approximately seven electric motors per minute and is actively increasing its production volume of components for electric vehicles. According to the company's plans, by 2026, the production volume of parts for electric powertrains will exceed 7 million units.
