A dramatic turn occurred in the case related to the death of blogger Farhod Mannopov. The ENT doctor, who was sentenced in the initial trial, was acquitted in the appellate court, which concluded there were no criminal elements in his actions. This was reported by Kun.uz.
The blogger fell into a coma during a rhinoseptoplasty operation on March 5, 2023, and passed away several hours later. His death led to a criminal case that sparked public controversy.
The court of first instance sentenced the ENT doctor to 5 years of restriction of freedom and banned him from practicing medicine for 2 years. However, he appealed the decision, and the case was reviewed.
According to court documents, during the operation at “Star Med Center,” the anesthesiologist failed to provide proper supervision. He was on the phone twice during the operation and failed to notice the patient's rising body temperature in time. The patient's heart later stopped several times, resulting in a coma.
It was determined that the patient suffered an anaphylactic shock — a severe allergic reaction. The report indicated that novocaine, one of the most allergy-inducing drugs, might have triggered the reaction. However, it was difficult to pinpoint the exact drug responsible.
Allergists and medical experts testifying in court stated that no faults were found in the ENT doctor's actions. A representative of the Ministry of Defense noted that such a temperature rise had never been recorded during the doctor's past surgeries.
The appellate court reviewed the evidence and decided to acquit the ENT doctor. Since no guilt was proven, the criminal case against him was dropped. The court emphasized that the anesthesiologist was responsible for monitoring the patient’s vital signs and that the ENT doctor had no authority to intervene in that process.
The court also found no basis for claims that the doctor pressured the patient to proceed quickly with the operation. On the contrary, it was revealed that the blogger himself had requested the operation to be expedited due to an upcoming foreign trip. He had returned a purchased airline ticket and agreed to undergo the surgery for free in exchange for promoting the doctor.
Investigations by the Ministry of Health also found no medical errors in the ENT doctor's actions that could have led to the patient's death. This further influenced the court's ruling.
The late blogger, Farhod Mannopov — known as “Mittivine” — had a large following on social media. He suffered a head and nose injury while swimming and approached the clinic for surgery. However, insufficient supervision during the procedure and a suspected drug reaction led to his death.
The trial began in September 2023 and continued behind closed doors in October. Today, after months of investigation and review, the doctor was acquitted. This will undoubtedly spark renewed public debate.
This incident highlights the importance of medical responsibility, precision, and monitoring. A patient's life during surgery depends on the entire team, not just one doctor. To prevent such tragedies, each medical professional must approach their work with utmost seriousness.
