The draft “Uzbekistan – 2030” strategy sets clear and wide-ranging goals to take national cinematography to a new stage and boost its standing on the international scene. Under the plan, Uzbek cinema is expected to be competitive not only in the domestic market but also among global audiences.
The strategy draft lists placing national films on the world’s 10 most popular online platforms as one of the key tasks. This initiative will showcase Uzbek film products to a broad audience and ensure easy access for viewers in different countries. At the same time, a gradual increase in content production volumes is planned.
Within the project, 50 major film productions are planned for 2024–2030, highlighting more than three thousand years of the country’s statehood history and the scientific, cultural, and spiritual heritage of great ancestors. These films will be screened abroad, including through prestigious film festivals and TV channels.
In addition, to popularize images of national heroes, the production of 59 animated films is planned, along with their placement on online platforms and broadcast on television. The goal is to deliver national history and values to the younger generation in a modern format.
For international promotion, the plan aims to increase interest in Uzbek cinema by presenting 54 national films at various international film festivals. To improve economic efficiency, investments attracted to the film sector are expected to reach $2.5 million, while exports of national film products are planned to rise to $10 million.
Moreover, socially and educationally significant areas have not been overlooked. In particular, 11 films on military-patriotic themes and 6 feature-publicistic films dedicated to the lives and work of representatives of the Jadid movement will be produced and presented to the wider public.
The planned measures are expected to improve both the quality and volume of national cinematography, expand international distribution opportunities, attract investments, and strengthen export potential.
