Young poet and writer known under the pen name Jahongir Mirzo, a student of the University of Journalism and Mass Communications of Uzbekistan, Jahongir Nomozov, was found dead at his home. According to initial reports, he may have committed suicide.
It is reported that the tragic incident occurred yesterday, April 15, in the Pop district of Namangan region. According to the district internal affairs department, reported at around 15:30, on the same day at around 13:00 at 157 Obod-2 street, Pop mahalla, Pop district, citizen Nomozov Jahongir Furkat ugli, born on January 24, 1997, due to changes in his mental state, not understanding the meaning of his actions, made a noose from a rope in the bathroom of his home, hanged himself, and died at the scene.
According to the preliminary conclusion of the Pop district branch of the Republican Scientific-Practical Center of Forensic Medicine, the death of Jahongir Nomozov was caused by mechanical asphyxia due to compression of the neck by a ligature. No other injuries were found except a ligature mark on the neck.
The district prosecutor’s office is conducting a pre-investigation check regarding the case.
It should be noted that Jahongir Nomozov was a representative of modern Uzbek literature, an active journalist, poet, and translator who developed international literary relations.
He was the official representative of the Turkish literary magazine “Şiir Sarnıcı” in Uzbekistan, coordinator of the international writers group “Juntos por las Letras” in Uzbekistan, member of the World Talents (Kazakhstan) international association, and recipient of the “Abay” medal.
His poems have been translated into English, Azerbaijani, Turkish, and other languages.
His works “Dream” and “Song of Belief” were published in international anthologies and literary platforms, including The Lingo Lexicon.
