Renowned Khorezmian singer Anvar Sobirov recently revealed on the "Khush Kelibsiz" show that he has significantly scaled back his performances at weddings. Sobirov explained that he is "tired" of the modern wedding environment, where audiences often prioritize flashy entertainment and "shows" over genuine musical artistry. He noted that his repertoire frequently clashes with current trends, making it difficult to perform for guests who prefer dancing to listening. The artist admitted that these experiences leave him feeling unfulfilled, as he prefers to be recognized for his singing rather than acting as a mere entertainer.
Anvar Sobirov, a well-known singer from Khorezm, recently appeared as a guest on the "Khush Kelibsiz" (Welcome) show, where he shared open and sincere thoughts regarding performing at weddings. The artist revealed that he has been participating in wedding ceremonies less frequently of late.
“In fact, I have almost stopped going to weddings. Not entirely, of course, but I have significantly reduced my appearances,” the singer stated.
The host inquired about the reason behind this decision, asking: “Are you tired? Is it because of the people or the relationships?”
Sobirov explained the situation differently:
“Yes, I am tired. But it is not because of the people or the relationships. When you go to a wedding, uncomfortable situations sometimes arise. My repertoire does not always align with the current demand for songs. Sometimes there are gestures suggesting I should switch to something else.
To be honest, many people do not listen to the song—they want a show. I am not a singer who puts on a show; I sing songs. When people do not dance to your songs, your mood drops. The payment received does not feel earned. After that, you stay at home for several days trying to recover yourself.
Of course, there are ways to make people dance. But that is not where singing happens,” the artist concluded.
