Green energy production in Uzbekistan reaches record levels

A true revolution is taking place in Uzbekistan's energy system. Since the beginning of this year, the amount of electricity generated from renewable energy sources in our country has exceeded the 4 billion kWhmilestone. Notably, this figure is a staggering 29 percent higher compared to the same period last year.

Solar and wind: The new 'wings' of energy

According to the latest reports from the Ministry of Energy, as of May 14, production volume is distributed as follows:

  • Solar photovoltaic plants: 2.315 billion kWh;

  • Wind power plants: 1.685 billion kWh.

You can understand how fast these figures are growing with one example: just 24 days ago, on April 20, this figure stood at 3 billion kWh. This means the flow of 'green' energy in our country is increasing significantly every day.

Unparalleled benefits for nature and the economy

Experts note that renewable sources are not only providing electricity but also serving to conserve the country's resources and protect nature. Since the beginning of the year, by utilizing solar and wind power, 1.066 billion cubic meters of natural gas have been saved. As a result, the emission of 2.3 million tons of toxic substances into the atmosphere has been prevented.

If we add the output generated by hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) to this, the total volume of 'green' energy reaches 6.16 billion kWh.This means:

  • 1.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas saved;

  • More than 3.4 million tons of harmful gases not emitted into the atmosphere.

What do these numbers mean for our households?

Simply put, this massive capacity generated since the beginning of the year is enough to cover:

  1. The 4.5-month needs of 4.4 million households;

  2. Or the full annual needs of 1.6 million households.

Such decisive steps taken towards Uzbekistan's 'green' future serve as an important factor in ensuring regional environmental sustainability and fully meeting the population's energy demand.

In your opinion, will Uzbekistan be able to fully cover its energy needs from 'green' sources in the future?
