Why is TORCH testing important before pregnancy?

Why is TORCH testing important before pregnancy?
For women planning pregnancy, one of the very important issues is undergoing examinations related to TORCH infections. This was explained in detail by the director of the Republican Perinatal Center, Nilufar Urinbaeva.

Nowadays, many women take the TORCH test only after pregnancy is confirmed, which is too late. But this is a serious mistake, says the specialist. — In fact, it is recommended to get tested 2–3 months before pregnancy. If a virus is detected in the results, it is possible to take the necessary medications during this period.

In this way, immunity against viruses develops in the body, and infections are eliminated on time. Additionally, this method allows for treatment and preventive measures before pregnancy.

During pregnancy as well, it is very important to check for TORCH infections based on a doctor’s recommendation. These infections may be asymptomatic in some cases, sometimes even without visible symptoms such as rash or fever.

Therefore, the most reliable diagnosis is determining the level of immunoglobulins in the blood. The test is done on an empty stomach, and no antiviral or antibiotic drugs should be taken during the three weeks prior to testing.

After receiving the test results, it is necessary to consult with a medical specialist. This is important not only for the health of the mother, but also for the healthy life of the future baby.
