Rules for using gadgets for children have been announced

In the era of modern technologies, children's interest in electronic devices is constantly growing. However, this condition can pose a serious risk to eye health and overall healthy development. In this regard, the Sanitary and Epidemiological Committee established clear rules for the use of gadgets for children and adolescents.

Experts emphasize that when working with a tablet or monitor, a minimum distance of 70 centimeters must be maintained. In addition, reading and play areas must be adequately provided with natural lighting. Proper light distribution reduces eye fatigue and improves attention.

In maintaining eye health, not only time, but also active breaks are important. Therefore, children are recommended to regularly do eye exercises. This strengthens vision and reduces the fatigue from staring at the screen.

According to the recommendations of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Committee, age-appropriate use time is determined as follows:

- The use of electronic devices is not recommended at all for children under 5 years of age;

- Students in grades 1-4 can use a mobile phone or tablet for 10-20 minutes during the lesson;

- For students in grades 5-11, this time is limited to 15-35 minutes;

- The total use time at home and school should be within 80-170 minutes, depending on the class level.

These requirements are aimed at preventing dependence on electronic devices, reducing eye fatigue, and forming a culture of healthy use in children.

Experts urged parents to monitor the time children spend in front of screens and encourage them to engage in active activities, walk in nature, and read books.

Thus, as noted by the Sanitary and Epidemiological Committee, it will be possible to protect children's eye health and maintain a healthy balance in the use of technology.
