Are foreigners occupying our lands?

Are foreigners occupying our lands?
Recently, news has been circulating on social networks that “our country’s lands are being transferred or sold to foreigners.”

The Cadastral Agency has commented on this news. Below is its full text.

It seems that these individuals are spreading such information because they are not aware of the procedures for transferring land plots to foreigners under our legislation. If they had been aware, they would not have spread false information.

We will provide you with information.

The requirements for transferring (selling) land plots are established by the Land Code, and in accordance with Article 17 thereof, foreign citizens and legal entities, stateless persons, and enterprises with foreign investment may own land plots only on a lease basis.

In accordance with Article 24 of the Code, land plots are leased to enterprises with foreign investment, international associations and organizations, and foreign individuals and legal entities.

Don't panic, saying, "What if we lease and privatize them, what will we do then?"

There is no need to worry, in accordance with the Law "On Privatization of Non-Agricultural Land Plots", foreign citizens, stateless persons, foreign legal entities, enterprises with foreign investment, as well as state bodies, institutions, enterprises and self-government bodies of citizens are not subjects of privatization, that is, land will not be privatized to foreigners.

Don't torment yourself with the question, "What if agriculture is land? Can it be privatized?" - agricultural land cannot be privatized even by citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
