Four lions were found to be illegally kept in Tashkent
The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change and the Prosecutor General's Office have investigated the illegal keeping of wild animals in the city and region of Tashkent.

It was noted that during the investigation, it was revealed that more than 80 mammals and birds of 9 species, including four African lions, were being illegally kept in nurseries and wild animal captivity in the Tashkent region and the city without a permit.

Some of these animals were transferred to the Tashkent City Zoo for proper storage. The investigation is ongoing.

For information, in accordance with the government resolution "On measures to improve the procedure for keeping wild animals", from January 1, 2025, it is prohibited to keep a number of wild animals in captivity by individuals and to use wild animals in circus performances.
