6 people died in a gas explosion in Samarkand - an emergency headquarters is working on the spot

On the night of May 8-9, a terrible incident occurred in a multi-storey building located on Spitamen Street in the "Boghisaroy" neighborhood of Samarkand city. The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported this.

Rescuers quickly arrived at the scene

Fire and rescue teams, having received a report about the explosion, immediately arrived at the scene and began work to eliminate the consequences of the disaster. The reinforced concrete structures of the building where the incident occurred were destroyed by kinetic impact.

As a result, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors of the building, as well as the basement, were seriously damaged. It is noted that there was no fire during the incident.

6 citizens died

During the search and rescue operations, it was reported that the bodies of 6 citizens were found under the rubble. No official information has been provided about the identities of the deceased so far.

A headquarters has been established with the participation of government services

A rapid response headquarters has been established under the leadership of the head of the Samarkand regional FSB to eliminate the consequences of the incident. The headquarters includes the following organizations:

- Prosecutor's Office;
- Internal Affairs Department;
- National Guard;
- Health Department;
- "Regional Gas Supply";
- Local administration and FSB services.

Emergency rescue operations are being carried out at the site with 10 special equipment and fire and rescue vehicles. The search for survivors from under the rubble and the removal of dangerous objects are ongoing.

Investigation launched

According to the FSB, a preliminary investigation into the incident is currently underway. It is still unknown what caused the gas leak and the flashover. Experts are preparing a technical report on the incident.
