In Tashkent, $90,000 stolen from a bank: criminal group arrested (video)

A major financial crime occurred in Tashkent — the illegal withdrawal of $90,000 caused a stir throughout the country. According to official information from the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the members of this criminal group used special technical and software tools, and, in collusion with a bank employee, illegally cashed a large sum of money.

According to reports, the incident took place on June 18 in the Yashnabad district. The head of the Tenge Bank retail services department filed a complaint with the police, stating that unknown individuals had stolen $90,000 from the bank’s cash desk. During the investigation, it was found that the detainees entered the bank as customers and, using cards, entered false information into the POS terminal to cash out the money.

The members of the criminal group met via the Internet and, through secret agreement, recruited a bank employee. Using special software, they carried out manipulations and illegally withdrew the money. As a result of swift action, all group members were detained.

One of the detainees confessed: “A year ago, I joined various Telegram groups and talked to Chinese people. They taught me different manipulation and fraud programs. After I found a bank employee, I started acting illegally. Now I regret my actions very much. Easy money does not exist anywhere.”

During the operation, 12 phones, a POS terminal, 9 bank cards, 1,670,000 soums and $36,495 were seized as evidence. Currently, 9 people have been detained under Article 221 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

This incident in Tashkent once again showed the need to be alert to new methods of modern crime.
