A serious violation related to crypto assets was discovered in the Namangan region. According to law enforcement agencies, two citizens were illegally involved in cryptocurrency circulation in the region. It was reported that the value of the operations carried out by them exceeded 2 billion 200 million soums.
According to information released by the regional Department of Internal Affairs, a 24-year-old resident of the Kosonsoy district, without obtaining a license, began trading crypto-assets through the Binance platform. In a short period from March to May of this year, it carried out 35 transactions totaling more than 542 million soums. During the investigation, the iPhone 11 was confiscated from the accused as evidence.
Another 37-year-old resident of the Naryn district was also detained for illegal operations related to crypto assets. His activity lasted from May to November 2024, during which he completed 35 transactions worth 1.7 billion soums.
A criminal case has been initiated against both individuals under Article 278-8 ("Violation of legislation in the field of crypto-asset circulation on an especially large scale") of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Officials emphasize that such situations threaten not only economic security but also the financial stability of citizens. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that the population use only licensed platforms for operations related to crypto assets.
This case, revealed in Namangan, once again demonstrated the strengthening of legal control and responsibility related to the cryptocurrency industry in recent years.
