A natural phenomenon occurred in the Andijan region - as a result of a sharp rise in the water level in the local canal, water entered the homes of residents, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
According to the information, the incident occurred on October 11 around 07:58 in a local canal flowing through the territory of Andijan district. As a result of the increase in water volume, the dam and coastal sections overflowed. As a result, water entered the yards and courtyards of several households.
Emergency service personnel, representatives of the Irrigation Networks Department, and local authorities arrived at the scene. They promptly took measures to stop the water flow. It is reported that the discharge of water into the canal has been temporarily suspended, and engineering equipment for the restoration of the bank with the dam has been involved.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, there were no reports of casualties or injuries as a result of the incident. However, it is said that after the flood, material damage may have been caused to some houses and household plots in the yards.
A special commission is currently investigating the causes of the incident and the extent of the damage caused. In the preliminary conclusion, experts say that the increase in water in the canal may be related to rainwater or a malfunction in the irrigation system.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations urged the population to exercise caution in areas near dams or canal banks. At the same time, specialists emphasize the need for constant monitoring and timely repair of natural water facilities.
Currently, remedial work is underway in the Andijan district, and the flood is under control.
