On the morning of November 2, a serious road traffic accident involving a passenger car and public transport occurred in the city of Samarkand. According to local Road Traffic Safety Department data, the incident was recorded at around 06:10 on Shohizinda street in the Afrosiyob neighborhood.
Preliminary reports indicate that the driver of a Cobalt vehicle fell asleep while driving and lost control of the vehicle. The car first hit a metal barrier, then crossed into the opposite lane and collided with an Asiastar brand bus moving in its own direction.
Fortunately, there were no passengers in the bus at the time of the incident, which helped prevent mass casualties. However, the Cobalt driver sustained injuries of varying degrees and was taken to a medical facility for urgent medical assistance.
As a result of the strong impact, both vehicles sustained mechanical damage. At present, city law enforcement officers are conducting a preliminary investigation into the incident.
