Extortion suspects detained in Nukus after demanding money from entrepreneur

According to the press service of the State Security Service, individuals who attempted to extort money from an entrepreneur were detained. This was reported by upl.uzreports.

A special оператив operation was carried out in Nukus, Republic of Karakalpakstan. As a result, a former tax office employee and two current tax officials were detained while receiving USD 700 and 15 million soums.

It was found that they claimed to have allegedly identified violations worth 213 million soums at an LLC engaged in retail food sales, and promised to “reduce” this amount to 34 million soums in exchange for USD 2,000. It was noted that the former tax employee acted as an intermediary in this case.

A criminal case has been opened and investigative actions are underway.
