A person who fraudulently donated money to children was detained

In Jizzakh, a person who collected fake charity for children and fraudulently used the internet was detained. In Uzbekistan, a person who collected money through social networks and deceived people under the guise of charity for the treatment of children has been exposed. As a result of operational measures carried out by law enforcement agencies, a suspect involved in illegal activities was detained.

According to the press service of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Jizzakh region, the situation was revealed after the father of one of the children contacted law enforcement agencies. He stated that information about photographs of his child and the collection of charitable funds for his treatment was circulating on the Internet and asked to stop the illegal dissemination of information. Following this appeal, the situation was investigated.

During the investigation, it was revealed that this fraud was committed by a 26-year-old resident of the Tashkent region. Using original photographs of children who were previously ill but have now recovered, he introduced himself as their parents and posted charity fundraising announcements on social media. Most regrettably, it portrayed people's trust and compassion through children's themes, making them look like charity. The collected funds were transferred to personal bank cards and spent on personal needs.

On this fact, a criminal case was initiated against the suspect under part 3 of Article 168 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the grounds of fraud using information technologies. Currently, investigative actions are being carried out, and the presence of other episodes of the incident is being studied.

According to the law, this crime is punishable by a fine of 300 to 400 times the basic calculation amount (from 123 million to 164 million soums), correctional labor from two to three years, or imprisonment from five to eight years.
