In the Khatirchi district of Navoi region, a 5-month-old baby died following the father’s actions. According to reports, the man tried to stop the baby from crying by stuffing a sock into the child’s mouth, which led to acute respiratory failure. This was reported by podrobno.uz. reports .
According to the Zamon program, the incident occurred at night on January 10. The mother, seeing the child in critical condition, immediately took the baby to the hospital. Doctors recorded clinical death, and resuscitation measures temporarily restored cardiac activity.
The baby remained in the pediatric intensive care unit for four days under specialist supervision. However, despite all efforts by medical staff, biological death was confirmed on January 14.
When the suspect’s background was reviewed, it was found that he had previously been noted for aggressive behavior within the family. Mahalla representatives stated that in his first marriage he also regularly pressured his son and daughter, which is why preventive talks had been held with him several times. The man had been under the supervision of relevant services.
The suspect has now been detained. The Navoi Regional Department of Internal Affairs has opened a criminal case under Article 104 of the Criminal Code (intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm), and investigative actions are underway to determine all details of the incident.
