Bakhtiyor Saidov and the Ambassador of Russia outlined priority plans for 2026

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, met with the Ambassador of Russia to Uzbekistan, Alexey Yerkhov, to discuss the results of the past year and future plans. At the center of the conversation was the issue of strengthening cooperation "not on paper, but in practice," that is, turning agreements into real work.
At the meeting, the positive dynamics observed in Uzbek-Russian relations during 2025 was particularly noted. In particular, it was noted that mutual trade turnover grew by 11% in 2025 - this figure indicates the presence of "live" cooperation.
Most importantly, it's not just about statistics. The parties noted that the agenda for 2026 will be "rich," it will contain many bilateral and multilateral events. This means: meetings, agreements, initiatives will increase even more - and results will be required in each.
Priority areas for 2026 were also discussed: new initiatives aimed at further developing relations, enriching cooperation with practical content, and consistently continuing the implementation of agreed tasks. In short, the mood of "there's a plan - now we won't slow down."
The main intrigue of the upcoming year lies in this: having many meetings is not enough, decisions made from them should quickly and clearly turn into results. If this trend continues, 2026 may become a "new stage" for cooperation.
